There is darkness in my life, a darkness borne by pain and illness.
Darkness fills my sight, leaving me crying for the light.
Darkness fills my soul, mourning my passing and never being whole.
Darkness pulls me down, drawing me to my mouth and leaving me to drown.
Darkness holds me quick, kicking or pulling won’t help me unstick.
Darkness let me go, leave me what little time I have and compassion you can show.
Darkness is my companion, walking with me hand in hand.
